New Trumpets Layout

Go check it out
Too lazy to do a screen capture right now.

This layout is the debut of my new layout style, it's more graphically centered as opposed to just words ya know?

Alot more appealing I think

Who Are You Voting For?

So what kind of band member would I be if I didn't shamelessly self-promote?
But no seriously, if you haven't, go check out my band O Jerusalem. We're a metal band, and maybe it's your thing, maybe it's not, but at least come check us out.

If you like it, maybe buy one of our records off our MySpace page, or check out our online store by clicking a shirt. Some of them are on sale right now!

Wolverine Origins

Sooo umm...
Snagged this from Invisible Creature blog, yeah I know, they catch everything before we do.

Anyways...
here it is.

Leaked bootleg footage of the trailer.

WATCH IT THEN READ MY COMMENTS ON IT BELOW

COMMENTS
---------------

So...
I'm skeptical...
Yes it looks bad as hell, but i'm worried considering the X-Men movies were sub par. And come on, you can't deny it, only until now have we been given good quality movies, the new Hulk, Iron Man, and Dark Knight were all quality, and everything before it was shameful. However, it seems that ever since Marvel picked up the rights to all their movies, they have been amazing.

SUPER SUPER excited to see Gambit in this trailer...
Holy freakin crap did you see him? He looked awesome.
Also stoked for some of the other characters. I was confused as to why he had the claws when he was a kid??? Or at least that's what it made it seem like. The movie BETTER be rated R. It HAS to be. It simply isn't Wolverine if there isn't massive amounts of blood, violence, and foul language. Simple as that.

Here's the link again in case you skipped it

Good times.

MeWithoutYou Recording a New Record?

Appears so.
Saw this over at buzzgrinder...
Funny thing is I heard on multiple occasion that they were breaking up...
hmmm

Actually at a show I was at, I heard some 17 year old girl say she swears up and down that they were breaking up and how she talked to the band.

Yeah good one

Anchorman Sequel

So yeah...
More great movie sequel news.

I was watching E! today, and they had a little news tidbit saying that Anchorman 2 is officially in the works, with Will Ferrel reprising his role as Ron Burgundy. No word as to if the rest of the cast will be back or not, but it's hard to imagine them not being in it, after all, it really did become the breakout role for a ton of the actors in the movie.

Apparently, while working with the director of Step Brothers, who happens to be the same director as the first Anchorman, and its sequel, began discussing the idea with Ferrel on the set, and said that they just love working together.

Apparently the movie picks up in the 80s as opposed to the 70s like in the previous.

Very excited for this one!

Boondock Saints Sequel A Reality

Saw this over at Buzzgrinder.

Apparently, a Boondock Saints sequel is a reality and could see the light of day sooner than later.

Incase iPhone Cases

Really want one of these...
It's on my birthday list.

Thrice: MySpace Transmissions

So something cool I didn't know.
MySpace has a live music series called Transmissions. They record a live session of a band on film and audio, and make it available to stream for free on the internet. Those that can't get enough can also purchase the performance on iTunes which is pretty sweet.

Knowing that Thrice if one of my all time favorite bands, of course I had to pick up on this!

New Underoath Track Posted

New song from their upcoming record has been posted on their MySpace Page

Thoughts?
Well here are mine.

The record cover is extremely ugly
The song sounds like stuff from Define the Great Line, they have prided themselves on not making the same record twice...
They're off to a bad start so far, although i'm optimistic.

The deluxe edition looks amazing though. Great packaging ideas, ideal for any die hard U0 fans, not me though haha.
Not for $70

Rock Band 2 Hardware Pictures Released

Got the new Game Informer this week, and they have some pretty sweet new details about the new Rock Band 2 hardware.

People were pretty shocked when Guitar Hero 4 released their pictures of their drums. Even I was pretty shocked at the fact that they had completely one upped Rock Band.
However, Harmonix has released pictures, and details about their hardware.

Rock Band 2 will feature 2 available drum sets. The main set which comes with the new Rock Band 2 pack includes expansion slots where you will be able to add on extra toms and cymbals.

However, those looking to step up their games, and pay a hefty chunk will be able to get the premium get. A partnership with ION, developers of an actual electronic drumkit, have made a get that is basically an actual electronic drum kit... wait... it is haha.
The set will be able to duoble as a rock band controller and an electronic drum kit that will run you $300.

Not too bad of a deal though ;-)

I've seen it twice already, and might see it again in IMAX

Dunno...

Dark Knight Review

When I was a little tyke, I remember sitting in front of the TV EVERYDAY, popping in one of the most warn down VHS films I had and watching Tim Burton's original Batman, in what I considered to be my favorite Batman movie. Yes I even thought it was better than Batman Begins. I thoroughly enjoyed Burton's fantastical, and animated depiction of the story. However, Christopher Nolan's interpretation was one to be noted. Highly personal, multi charachter driven, FILM approach to the series itself.

The trouble with most comic book movies is that they try too hard to re-create whatever is on page, which there is nothing wrong with, however there always seems to be this cheeseball factor to the surface.

Nolan's Batman films however are not like this, he approaches the story in the way most films, or at least quality films are done. Investing alot of his given time into multiple characters, as opposed to simply the hero himself, and The Dark Knight is no exception.

I think it's safe for me to say, that in my opinion, if this movie didn't develop other characters such as Gary Oldman's SUPERB portrayal of commissioner Gordon, or Eckhart's Harvey Dent, Morgan Freeman's character, or most of the other characters in this film, it would be nothing special.

Nonetheless, The Dark Knight continues in the same vein as Begins, a realistic, mob esque view of a city in utter turmoil, while things seem to have gotten better, one criminal mind sits on the boundary between Gotham's complete resurrection as a great city, and the crime slum it has always been, and that one person is Heath Ledger's Joker charachter.
Bruce Wayne is also thrown into a love triangle in this movie, with Eckhart's Harvey Dent forming a relationship with fellow love interest Rachel Dawes. Despite their common interest, the two share a yearning for justice, however on opposite sides of the spectrum. Wayne on his side of outlaw justice, though a symbol for justice, not as strong as a government official, in which case is Dent.

The film trickles through an extremely complex story line, linking various crime families, bosses and such together, in which has become an intertwined web of debauchery, spun by The Joker.

From his very first appearance in the film, Ledger's embodiment of one of the most complex characters in fiction is stunning. The entire time sitting in my chair, not once did I think I was staring at an actor playing a comic book villian, instead, I saw an absolute disturbing human, homicidal maniac, in which invokes quite the since of ominous fear. Though the power behind the character's prowess, stature, and speech is absolutely cringing and terrifying, The Joker also seems to be the bulk of comedy relief in this film, which in some ways adds a whole other level to how scary this charachter really is.

The entire film is packed with incredible acting. Eckhart's Harvey Dent is rewarding and noble to watch, his passion for justice is moving, and defeating when his transformation into Two-Face has taken place. I however did have issues with Two-Face as a whole. It seemed that this charachter was underdeveloped, never really highlighting his insanity, especially for how quickly they incorporated him into the story. I also thought the effects of his deformity were a little too fantastical for a Nolan Batman depiction, also just unbelievable.

Bale does an amazing, and greatly convincing job as Bruce Wayne, however I think the lowest parts of the film is when we see him as Batman. I love Christian Bale as an actor, but he's very linear in each of his roles, therefore, I find it difficult to watch him when he's basically growling at opponents, it's just simply humorous. I think that Batman himself actually makes these films weak, not that there is any way to avoid him, but the story is just so complex and in depth, I almost think he's just there to be there.

Bottom line is that this film's amazing story line, realistic and modern portrayal of such a great comic book classic, superb acting, phenomenal cinematics, and an absolutely iconic performance by Heath Ledger takes this movie above all.

FINAL GRADE: A+

Anyone Use Moleskin?

I found this little ditty over at freelanceswitch.com, if you didn't know, there is a notebook company that make these very stylish and trendy notebooks called Moleskin.

They're awesome for everything from keeping journals, sketching, notes, anything, but kids have been modifying them or "hacking" them. Regardless, it's pretty sweet, there is a link at the bottom.

I personally use mine for notes with design clients, design sketches, and I even have a book for musings, and lyrics for my musical endeavors.

Anyways...
check it out.

Terminator 4 Trailer

WOW!

Videos from Life in Your Way's last show are starting to surface, and for those of us who couldn't be there, im sure videos like this one still gets the message across.

Apparently this was the interlude between member changes, it's from the song "when it All Comes Down" off the bands first record.

It's a great worship song.

iPhone Users Having iTunes Server Issues

Since today is the release of the iPhone 3G, and there is mass pandemonium, there are tons of people trying to access the iTunes server for various reasons...

- Activating their new iPhone
- Downloading iTunes 7.7
- Downloading Firmware 2.0
- Downloading Apps
- Accessing the App store

For those of us who already have iPhones, it's a good thing people found the leaked firmware, and if you're like me, I already downloaded all the Apps I wanted yesterday, because I knew it was gonna be like this.

Anyways...
if you're having issues, that's what's up, sit tight. Things should get better in about a month haha.

Green Tip

I'm gonna start posting these little green tips every now and then.
I know there are alot of ignorant people out there that think global warming doesn't exist, and this planet doesn't have environment issues, or at least ones we need to address, but the fact is...

We do.

As a Christian, the bible calls us to take care of what God has given us, and if that's not enough...
We're not giving the future of this planet much to work with.

Anyways...

Here's a little green tip for you guys.

Plastic is a HUGE part of most people's carbon footprint, and it's pretty hard, and next to impossible to just completely omit the use of plastic in ones life. However, besides recycling plastic, there are other things you can do.

If you're like me and drink tons of bottled water, obviously make sure you're recycling the bottle, but also, make sure you're not re-consuming bottles.
Re-fill old water bottles with tap water, or if you're like Lexington Kentucky, and the water tastes like pennies, you can go to most grocery stores and pick up a gallon jug of water, and then go to a filtered water filling stations.

Most Krogers have these, and if your's doesn't, try any Good Foods, or Whole Foods stores, they have them. You can take your water jug, and fill it up, for usually less than 25 cents.

Anyways...
that's the green tip of the week for you.

In Endeavors

Just wrapped up the first part of many designs i'm doing for them.
Super stoked on this new record, and a big thanks to the guys for being sweet dudes and giving me alot of freedom as a designer.

P.S.

Batman: Gotham Knight

So with the Dark Knight coming out next week, Warner Premier has put out what looks like a very promising release to hype up the movie.

Gotham Knight is a stylized, 6 installment animated feature, acting as a bridge of events between Batman Begins, and Dark Knight, featuring such villains as Scarecrow, Killer Croc and more.

I haven't picked this up yet, but if you're as big as a Batman fan as I am, picking this up will be a huge deal. You have three different options for your purchase.

The standard edition which runs at $19.99 SRP
Two Disc Special Edition at $29.99 SRP (this is what i'll be picking up)
and of course the Blu-Ray at $34.99 SRP

If you don't want to buy this jazz, they also have it for rent over at iTunes for just $3.99 which is basically a steal.

I'm Not There

So recently, a very artistic movie, showcasing various parts of Bob Dylan's life.
It's really cool, but more importantly, I love the soundtrack to this movie. Various people collaborating to do Bob Dylan songs, and even if you're not a Dylan fan, these arrangements are great.

I've thrown a few of my favorites in here.
They are youtube videos so some of the editing on them is a bit off, but nonetheless, you'll get the jist.

Christian Bale performing John Doe's cover of "Pressing On"

Jim Jones of My Morning Jacket and Calexico performing their cover of "Going to Acapulco

Carl Franklin covering "When the Ship Comes In"

Thrice- Broken Lungs (acoustic)

For those of you that haven't gotten Thrice's epic The Alchemy Index Volumes I-IV, I highly recommend it.

One of the more meaningful releases i've heard in a long time.
Perhaps the strongest of the four disks is the Air disc.
This is an acoustic version of one of those songs.
Enjoy!

Rock Band 2: Details Finally Announced

So just a month or two after Activision dropped the bomb on us for GH4 World Tour, people were waiting around for Harmonix to rebuttal. Well they have, and they're keeping things hush hush in an interview with IGN.

While little details were given, based on a few, here are some conclusions I am theorizing...

- RB2 will put more emphasis on the peripherals. I'm assuming that controllers will be more customizable both in real world, and in game. Possibly choosing what drum pad represents what, What symbols you have, what kind of amp you're using, more effects, etc.

- Song list is being extremely hyped. They're promosing for a "who's who of music game song lists"

- Even more in depth tour modes. Including a single player tour mode im sure, as well as an online tour mode.

I think one of the coolest things is how the downloadable content is being carried over. Rock Band is my favorite music game, and has completely obliterated their competition in my book. While GH has some strengths over RB, Rock Band was the first to add multi peripherals, a solo section on their guitar, editable charachters, and in depth story type mode, and best of all, their DLC works the way it should. Instead, GH franchise gives us crap like GH: Aerosmith, where we have to pay $60 for an entire catalog of songs we could have gotten for $12 at Rock Band.

Dark Knight Sneak Peak

Completely and utterly stoked on this.
The only reason i'm even looking forward to this movie is for Ledger's performance of what is one of the all time most complex characters.

Check out this exclusive footage.
(also the Batpod is kind of freaking amazing)
